Barangay officials file plunder rap vs. Braganza
FIFTEEN incumbent and former barangay chairmen of Alaminos City filed a plunder case against Mayor Hernani Braganza and other city officials before the Office of Ombudsman last January 11.
The community leaders allege that Braganza, together with other city officials, undertook several unfinished and “ghost” projects amounting to P5 billion since his first term in office in 2004.
The complainants who signed the 22-page verified joint-complaint affidavit include Barangay Chairman Samuel R. Alcantara, Sr.; Ronald C. Bautista; Ester M. Bernal; Victor C. Ranchez; Jessie Racraquin; Trinidad Soriano; Jeoffrey Orpinada; Eusebio Fronda, Jr.; Jose Regatcho; Milagros Payas; Mario Rabadon; and former Brgy. Chairman Antonio Cortez, Carlito Rabara and Alex Recosana.
The complaint lists the alleged anomalous government projects, which includes: e-Kawayan project, unliquidated cash advances, Hundred Islands International Airport, Olympic-size swimming pool, wetland development, renovation and upgrading of Pacific Plaza, repair and rehabilitation of Cayucay main road, Gawad Kalinga eco-village project, construction of city hospital, Alaminos City Hotel, Pangasinan State University expansion and no physical inventory of city’s property and plant equipment.
