POLICE Supt. Christopher Abrahano is the new officer-in- charge of the Dagupan police, taking on the elimination of illegal drugs in a city that has come to be known as the hub of dealing.

Tututukan natin ang illegal drugs,” said Abano, a native of Sta. Barbara town who served as action officer of the Region 1 police office’s anti- drugs task group before his current posting.

“At bukod dito we will first assess yong programa ng himpilan sa pagresponde sa mga krimen. Mabilis ba ang response time, sapat ba ang resources, nasa tamang lugar ba ang mga personnel at kung tama ba ang lugar kung saan sila naka-deploy,” he added.

Further, Abrahano assured the public that the Dagupan police will be impartial in dealing with politicians during the election period in accordance with their mandate as a non-partisan agency.

Hindi madaling i-manage ang malaking siyudad gaya ng Dagupan pero sa galing ng mga taong daratnan ko I think we could rise to the challenge,” he said.

Abrahano is replacing Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr., who is set for schooling at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

The turn- over ceremony held last week was presided by Senior Supt. Marlou Chan, officer-in-charge of the police provincial office, and attended by Mayor Benjamin Lim and other city officials.

Caramat, who served as city police chief for two and half years, thanked the city officials and the community for their support to the Philippine National Police (PNP), which he said made his accomplishments possible.

The Dagupan PNP was twice awarded as Best Police Station in the search for best Police Community Relation police station in Region 1 during Caramat’s term as chief of police.–Hilda M. Austria
