Wage board to employers: Provide incentives

By December 29, 2012Business, News

THE Regional Tripartite and Wage Productivity Board (RTWPB) urged private companies to provide productivity incentives to their employees following the new two-tiered wage system.

Under the new system, employees will be receiving two kinds of remuneration: the basic pay and the productivity incentive.

Currently, the provision of additional incentive is still voluntary within Region 1, which includes Pangasinan.

But Salvador Poserio, RTWPB director representing the management level, said this will soon become compulsory.

“Aside from the basic pay, an employee will be receiving incentives based on his work performance,” Poserio said during the KBP Forum held at the Philippine Information Agency office on Thursday.

Poserio called on employers to adopt performance appraisal schemes that will serve as basis for computing incentives for their employees.

WAGE INCREASE

At the same time, he reminded the business sector that the minimum wage in the region has increased by P5 from P248 to P253 as per Wage Order No. 15 approved on August 1, 2012.

The hospital sector received a higher increase of P8. (PIA-Pangasinan/VHS)
