LINGAYENSix months before the May 2013 midterm elections, MARGIN Survey has announced A “landslide victory for Espino-Calimlim slate” if polls were held during the last week of October up to the first week of November.

Results of the survey conducted from October 23 to November 3, a couple of weeks after the deadline for COC (Certificate of Candidacy) Filing for 2013 electoral aspirants, show that 90 percent of adult Pangasinenses still prefer Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. while his opponent, Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza, got only six percent, with the remaining 4 percent still undecided.

On the other hand, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim Jr. got 87.9 percent while vice gubernatorial seat challenger, retired PNP Chief Arturo Lomibao, got 4.1 percent with 8 percent still undecided.

Multi-stage probability scheme in the six congressional districts of Pangasinan was utilized by the survey, which had a margin of error plus or minus three percentage points.

The credibility of MARGIN survey has been proven in the past.

MARGIN is the same poll outfit which had predicted the 65 percent-27 percent (with 8 percent undecided) victory of Espino over erstwhile undefeated three-termer Governor Victor Agbayani in their gubernatorial face-off in the May 2010 polls. Actual election results favored Espino with 74 percent against Agbayani with 26 percent. (PIO/ Mark Gerry Oblanca)
