Six arrested for illegal logging
MANGATAREM–Six persons, four of them farmers, were arrested here for illegal logging on the night of December 19.
Police identified the suspects as June Lucero, 35, Brando Baohar, 27, Roberto Callo, 43, all farmers from Barangay Tococ Barikir, Mangatarem; Donato Bautista, 40, Joseph Unay, 25, and Angelo Unay, 25, all residents of Barangay Sapang, also in Mangatarem.
The suspects were caught in the act of cutting trees by intelligence operatives of the Mangatarem Police Station while conducting surveillance operation against them.
The six failed to show a permit to cut trees
Confiscated from the suspects were six pieces of lumber cut from a mahogany tree.
The six are now facing a case for violation of Presidential Decree No. 705.
