“LEAVE politics to politicians.”

This was the first message sent out by the new officer-in-charge provincial police director, Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, to city and municipal police chiefs in Pangasinan as he took over the post from Senior Superintendent Mariano Luis Verzosa Jr. last week.

“Focus on peace and order in your respective areas… Our concern is peace and order. Do not meddle with the affairs of politicians,” Labador said.

He added that the police chiefs know the situation in their respective areas.

Labador pointed out that currently the main problem in the province is guns-for-hire, especially those riding in tandem on motorbikes, with several politicians shot and killed in recent years.

He also reiterated the order of the new Philippine National Police chief, Director General Alan Purisima, that policemen must uphold the battle cry for Serbisyong Makatotohanan.

Labador said he will make the round of the different police stations to find out the particular problems in the areas and help find solutions.

He also advised the police chiefs to make the public and politicians feel safe by communicating with them as they patrol their areas.–Eva Visperas
