MANAY GINA REPORTS

SAN FABIAN–When it rains, it pours in San Fabian.

That would be in the form of projects delivered with the initiative of Fourth District Rep. Gina de Venecia.

Two weeks ago, De Venecia and Fourth District Board Member Mojamito Libunao presided in the groundbreaking rites for the construction of a new P5-million fish market in the San Fabian Public Market, funded from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of the De Venecia.

Construction is now in full swing under the supervision of 2nd Highway District Engineer Rodolfo Dion.

Other ongoing projects of De Venecia here include the construction of a Day Care Center in San Bigbiga, toilet and artesian well in Longos Central outpost, and improvement of the barangay hall in Sagud Bahley.

Several projects were also undertaken in the town funded by the Tobacco Excise Tax sourced by De Venecia.

These are a Farmer Center for Barangays Anonang, Nibaliw West, Rabon and Mabilao; improvement of farm-to-market roads in Aramal, Bolaoen, Colisao, Cayanga, Inmalog Norte, Palapad; footbridge from Sitio Pansil to Tempra Guilig; and a drainage system in Tocok.

De Venecia revealed that she has also obtained funds from the Department of Agriculture to finance the construction of a farm-to-market road in Bolaoen.

IRRIGATION

De Venecia said she has also asked the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) to undertake the repair of five irrigation canals in San Fabian in order to increase the volume of water needed in the rice fields and consequently boost harvest.

These include the Lipit-Tomeeng canal structure and lining worth P3.8 million; Palapad, Lipit – Tomeeng canal structure and lining, P4.4 million; Binday, Angio, Anonang, Cabaruan canal lining, P4 .3 million; Binday, Angio, Anonang, Cabaruan canal structure and lining, P 3.6 million; and Anonang, Cabaruan, canal structure and lining, P3.3 million.

Aside from the infrastructure projects, De Venecia also announced her major alternative livelihood project in San Fabian, a Moringa Processing Plant and Plantation, for which she has allocated P15 million from her PDAF.

Malaki po ang potensyal ng proyektong ito, dahil napakalaki ng demand ngayon sa mga produkto mula sa Malunggay, na itinuturing bilang ‘Most nutritious plant on the face of the earth’,” De Venecia said.

De Venecia has filed a bill in Congress seeking to make malunggay as the national vegetable in the country and November as the malunggay consciousness month.
