Dagupeño ordained

A BOY who grew up in Barangay Calmay in Dagupan City, now 27 years old, was ordained last December 27 as his hometown celebrated the feast of its patron, St. John The Evangelist.

The new priest, Joseph Fernandez or Jofer, was ordained in rites officiated by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas.

“Your ordination is your opening totally to the power of God to change you… Every Mass that you celebrate must change you…. Do not be focused on the powers to be given to you,” Villegas advised Fernandez.

“You will be in the limelight…But resist the temptation of limelight because we are not celebrities. We are servants of God. You should be the spotlight to focus in the power of God, focusing in Jesus, only in Jesus,” he added.

Fernandez has been appointed as parochial vicar of the St. John Metropolitan Cathedral and assistant master of ceremonies of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan.–Eva Visperas
