A SUPPLEMENTAL budget amounting to P28.9 million for the fourth quarter was approved by the Dagupan City sanggunian in its session last Monday.

The additional appropriation, derived from the reverted personnel savings, maintenance and other expenditures and capital outlay, will be spent mainly for the bonuses of the city government personnel and various expenses of the city.

Councilor Alfie Fernandez said the plantilla-holding employees of the city government will receive P10,000, the emergency workers and technical consultants, P5,000, and the volunteer workers, P2,000.

Meanwhile, Draft Ordinance No. 0-475, which allocates P612 million for the city’s budget in 2013, has passed first reading.

Fernandez, also the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) presiding officer protempore, presided over the session as Vice Mayor Belen T. Fernandez was on official leave.

Meanwhile, Councilor Jesus Canto, chair of the committee on appropriations, is optimistic that the 2013 appropriations will merit the approval of the local council without any further cut.

Also passed during the session were two resolutions: one authorizing Mayor Benjamin S. Lim to enter an agreement with the Philippine Veterans Bank Dagupan branch that will let qualified employees and officials of the city government to avail the salary loan program, and the other extending the deadline of business permits payment to February next year.
