LINGAYEN–A scholar of the Pangasinan Provincial Government placed 2nd in the recently concluded electronics and communications engineering (ECE) licensure examinations administered by the Professional Regulations Commission on October 20-21.

Engr. John Rodrigo F. Tamayo, 21, a resident of Mangaldan, accomplished the feat from a field of 4000 examinees batting a whooping 96.70 percent average rating.

Tamayo conveys his utmost gratitude and appreciation to Governor Amado T Espino Jr., and the provincial government for the support he had received after finishing the 5-year course.

“Napakalaki po ang naitulong sa akin ng Probinsya, lalong lalo na po ni Governor Espino. Hindi ko po makakamit ang tagumpay na ito pag hindi dahil sa kanila,” he said.

Tamayo graduated Valedictorian at the Malabago (Mangaldan) Elementary School and again graduated Valedictorian at the Mangaldan National High School.

“I always bear in mind the hardships and sacrifice of my parents sending us to school. It’s just proper to pay them back in return by studying well,” Tamayo said.

He added, “however, this ‘gift’ is beyond from what I wished for.” He just dreamed of just hurdling the board exams but because of sheer determination to help his family and accompanied by intense prayers, he has achieved the remarkable feat.

Tamayo’s father, Rodrigo, has no definite job while his mother Rosita sells viands in the public market.

Tamayo, who also once served as Sangguniang Kabataan chairman of Malabago, plans to offer his services to the Philippine government. Likewise, he would also like to share his knowledge by teaching at the Saint Louis University where he finished his college education. (PIO/Jason Velasco)
