Laoac, Pozorrubio shine in National Children’s Month celebration

LINGAYEN—The towns of Laoac and Pozorrubio were the top winners in the province’s culminating activities for the National Children’s Month celebration held October 30 organized by the Pangasinan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) at the Provincial Training and Development Center here.

Laoac was champion in speech choir, followed by capital town Lingayen in second place and Rosales, third.

The newscasting competition was won by Pozorrubio, with Umingan and Binmaley in second and third, respectively.

The winners received cash prizes of P3, 000 for the first place; P2, 500 for the second place; and P2, 000 for the third place.

PSWDO Officer Emilio Samson said the activities looked into the best welfare of children and support the observance of the National Children’s Month declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 267.

This year’s celebration was anchored on the theme “Bright Child ay Siguraduhin, Responsableng Pamamahayag ay Palaganapin”, which focuses on the promotion of freedom of expression among children.

National Children’s Month is celebrated annually to promote the vital role of children in nation building and to reiterate the call to every Filipino to create child-friendly communities and teach children patriotism, proper conduct and to honor Filipino values. (PIA-Pangasinan/AMM)
