Full electrification of 5th District set
SISON—All barangays in the 5th District can expect to have energy supply after the funding for the full electrification of the area was released by the Department of Energy (DOE).
Rep. Kimi Cojuangco of the district said the fund has been released to their respective electric cooperatives.
One of the beneficiaries of the energization program is Sitio Pilaoan of Sagunto, Sison, with almost P2 million funding to defray costs for the main lines.
The municipality will provide the drop lines that will connect the houses to the main line using funds it earned as an award for good governance.
“I was able to convince the DOE secretary to fund the electrification of all the remaining places that have not been energized,” said Cojuangco who was in town last week with Luzon DOE Director Efren Balawing.
Cojuangco said the DOE secretary also asked her to rally behind the “Choice For Lighting” campaign of the government.
She also met with members of the Civilian Volunteers Organization (CVO) during the distribution of Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) by DOE representatives.
Aside from Sison, the 5th District covers Urdaneta City and the towns of Villasis, Alcala, Bautista, Sto. Tomas, Pozorrubio, Laoac and Binalonan. —Eva Visperas
