THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has underscored the importance of branding and called on Dagupan entrepreneurs to label their goods to protect their right of ownership to original products.

In a seminar on Intellectual Property Law held in Dagupan last Tuesday, initiated by the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) in coordination with the local government, small and medium entrepreneurs were reminded on the need to brand their products whether distributed in the local or international market.

Peter Mangabat, DTI provincial director, cited in particular the so-called called “Dagupan’s best products”, which are identified with the city.

Mangabat stressed that branding is essential in protection from fraudulent entrepreneurs as well as in promotion.
