Computer-on-Wheels launched in Dagupan

HOUSEWIVES and out-of-school youth in the 4th District now have an opportunity to learn how to use a computer and repair hardware with the launch last Friday of the Computer-on-Wheels, a project of Rep. Gina de Venecia.

De Venecia, along with Dagupan Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and Bonuan Gueset Barangay Chairman Rico Mejia, launched the air-conditioned mobile van loaded with 16 computers with access to internet.

Two instructors trained by the Technical Education and Skills Authority (TESDA) will guide the trainees as they undertake hands-on training inside the mobile facility.

De Venecia said the van will stay in Bonuan Gueset for four weeks, after which it will transfer to another barangay until it has covered all the 140 barangays in the district.

Each batch of trainees will comprise of 16 participants who have to finish a one-week course.

With four batches per day, there will be 256 graduates in each barangay.

All the graduates in computer literacy and computer repair will receive a certificate from TESDA, which can be used for applying for a job.

De Venecia said there will be two computer-on-wheels to be made available in Dagupan and one each for the towns of San Fabian, Mangaldan, San Jacinto and Manaoag.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez called on residents of Dagupan to avail of the program as she thanked. De Venecia for bringing computer education to the doorsteps of the residents.
