Alaminos VM changes tune: “Hundred Islands is beautiful”

TWO weeks after saying that the Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) is “underdeveloped, marumi at mabaho”, Alaminos City Vice Mayor Cesar Manzano appears to have changed his opinion.

On the eve of November 1, the All Saints Day celebration, Manzano made a complete turn-around by saying the HINP is “maganda at malinis na malinis”.

He even invited Pangasinenses and tourists to come and visit the protected area, which is one of the most popular destinations in Pangasinan.

Iniimbita po naming kayo na pumunta dito sa Alaminos upang Makita nyo ang Hundred Islands; maganda po ngayon ang Hundred Islands at tahimik na tahimik po ang sitwasyon sa Alaminos,” the vice mayor said.

The vice mayor’s 180-degree turn has elated many Alaminos residents, especially owners of eateries, banca operators, hotel owners and other local residents relying on tourism as a living.

Carlos Orfinada, a tricycle operator and adviser of FATODA said,“Mabuti naman at itinama ni Vice Mayor Manzano yung sinabi niya sa radio; sana huwag gamitin sa pulitika ang gaming hanap-buhay at magpatuloy siya sa pagsabi ng katotohanan tungkol sa aming bayan dahil siya ay aming kababayan.”

Manzano, a candidate for mayor who will be up against the son of the incumbent Mayor Hernani Braganza, drew howls of protest on his earlier critical statement.
