PCSO: Report ambulance misuse

THE head of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has called on the public to report sightings of ambulances that could be cases of misuse.

PCSO Margarita Juico said the agency is also monitoring how ambulances they have donated to local government units (LGUs) are being used.

Pangasinan received 18 ambulances from PCSO.

“Ambulances parked for long hours in restaurants or malls and other public places and leave only at night time… So, what does that mean?” said Juico who was in Dagupan Wednesday to distribute 500 packs of emergency medical kits to indigents in the city.

Such sightings, she said, can be reported to her office through telephone number (+2) 8468720 or at the Lung Center with number (+2) 9217971.

Juico said if misuse is proven, the PCSO may confiscate the ambulance and give it to another LGU or government clinic/hospital.

Under the Aquino administration, about 600 ambulances had been distributed nationwide, especially in far-flung and poor areas.

Juico also stressed that pictures and names of elected officials are no longer allowed to be printed and painted on PCSO-issued ambulances.—Eva Visperas
