Pangasinan, top contender in “Gawad Pamana ng Lahi”
LINGAYEN–The province is a top contender in the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi Award, a nationwide search launched by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Pangasinan has been chosen among the 11 provinces during the 2nd evaluation conducted by the search evaluators, ranking first based on health, peace and order and governance.
Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan said the results of the third and final evaluation are now being awaited.
BUSINESS-FRIENDLY
Earlier, Gov. Amado Espino Jr. disclosed that Pangasinan was among the six provinces in the country adjudged as one of the Most Business-Friendly Provinces for the 2012 Search for Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit conducted by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
The documentation on the initiatives of the province on Trade Investments and Tourism Promotions, Public-Private Sector Partnership, Quality Management Systems and Innovation, Human Resource Development, MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) Development and Inter-Local Government Relations merited the approval of PCCI.
The search sought to recognize and promote models of governance of municipalities, cities and provinces that have demonstrated outstanding efforts in instituting good governance reforms.
The other provinces named Most Business- Friendly LGU include Ilocos Norte, La Union, Palawan, South Cotabato and Cebu City.
PEARL AWARD FOR TOURISM
Pangasinan was also the second runner-up in this year’s Pearl Award Best Tourism Practices – Best Tourism Month Celebration (Provincial Level Category).
The country’s top tourism events was celebrated at the Pearl Award as part of the 13th National Convention of the Association of Tourism Officers in the Philippines (ATOP) held in Dakak Resort, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte last October 4.
The award is a project of ATOP, in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT), to give recognition to the exceptional practices and creative works by local government t units for the tourism industry.
The award was accepted by a contingent from Pangasinan led by Provincial Tourism Operations Officer Ma. Luisa A. Elduayan.
