Pangasinan still on top but Baguio closes in

LINGAYEN—Last Friday, host Pangasinan handily won in its favorite sport cycling but failed to overshadow the dominance of its main rival Baguio City in the 2012 Batang Pinoy North Luzon Leg at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.
John Carlo Dasalla, a 15-year old from San Manuel, spearheaded a four-man group that finished the 75-kilometer mass start race at the Capitol Grounds here with identical clocking of 2:12.15. to win the gold.
He was followed by Joel Pataray, also 15, who grabbed the silver; Carl de la Peña, and Emmanuel Santos, 15, who got the bronze
The bicycle race from the Lingayen Capitol to Mangatarem and back was participated in by only 10 riders. The six other Pangasinenses who joined the race were Reigner Christian Fontanilla, Christian C, Laplana, Adonis Sevidal III, Paul Angel Peralta and Malone Canlas Jr.
Meanwhile, Baguio posed a serious threat to Pangasinan’s domination in the sporting event when it ruled in taekwondo, getting 13 of the 16 gold medals at stake.
The gold medalists are Christian Mark Duntugan in the finweight, Monsour Carlo Salazar in the flyweight, Tristan Dale Cayago in bantamweight, Kendrix Klyndale in featherweight, John Gervin Astrologio in lightweight, Rencer Shane Lavestre in welterweight and John Christian Mapalo in middleweight.
Gold medal winners in Baguio’s women side were Angelica Joyce Gaw in the fin weight, Keyya Arizza David in flyweight, Colleen Heria in bantamweight, Leslie Marie Agyamoc in featherweight, Phoebie Kate De Guzman in lighrweight and Ma. Kaye Shanelle Romuar in welterweight.
Pangasinan won in two events with the victories of middleweight April Rejena Estrada and Joan Paras in heavyweight while Keberth Lee Lumbiana of Vigan City won the gold in junior men’s heavyweight.
