NIA water master shot dead

ROSALES–The water master of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) here was shot dead while sitting inside a waiting shed in front of their office in Barangay Tomana at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Jackson Seguin, town chief of police, identified the victim as Ben Brigania, 47, a resident of Barangay Pindangan, Alcala.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was shot once by an unidentified male wearing a bonnet and jacket, hitting him in the lower abdomen. The suspect and his cohort fled.

The victim was brought by his companions to Del Carmen Hospital and died an hour later while undergoing treatment.

No empty shell was recovered from the crime scene, indicating that the firearm used could be a revolver.

One Harold Austria, 50, a senior water master of NIA, told the police that four months ago, the victim was telling him and his co-employees that his life was in danger and he had been receiving death threats.

The wife and other relatives of the victim refused to give details regarding the threats.
