EU donates P10 M to Malasiqui hospital
MALASIQUI–The European Union (EU) is helping finance the completion of the second floor of the municipal hospital here with a P10 million fund.
Mayor Armando Domantay said the EU has already approved the financial assistance, which was requested by the local government with endorsement from Governor Amado Espino Jr. through a group of Filipinos based in Europe.
Domantay said the additional floor will enable the hospital to increase its bed capacity from 40 to 50 from the present 15 to 20 beds.
“Kulang na kulang ang bed capacity ng ospital para ma-accomodate ang lahat ng mga pasyenteng pumupunta sa ospital, minsan pati sa mga hallway may mga pasyente na rin,” he said.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has inspected the hospital for the construction work and the project will soon be bid out online through the Philippine Government Electronics System (Philgeps).
Domantay also announced that some overseas Filipinos (OFWs) from the town have promised to contribute funds for the purchase of additional medical equipment for the municipal hospital.
The municipal government will compliment the donation with a new ambulance, the mayor said.
