Espino hails Boy Scouts in singing Pangasinan hymn
LINGAYEN–“Tuloy tuloy ang mga programa para sa mga boys at girls scouts sa Pangasinan para maipadama sa kanila ang pagiging scout.”
Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. made the assurance when he welcomed some 3,000 scouts, scouters and parents from the 2nd District of the province during the opening program of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) 4th Pangasinan – San Carlos City Council Kid/Kab Sayawan and Olympics held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) on October 19.
“Isa din akong boy scout at isa ang BSP sa mga pinakamagandang organisasyon na sinalihan ko,” he said as he thanked the parents of the kab scouts for the good things they have been doing for the kids.
Elated by the young scouts’ singing of the Pangasinan hymn, the provincial chief executive praised the partiipants’ conscious efforts to popularize the hymn in the organization.
Second District Board Member Von Mark Mendoza who also attended the activity rallied the scouts to support the Governor’s programs.
“Ipagpatuloy po natin ang suporta kay Gov. Espino para tuloy tuloy ang mga magagandang pagbabago sa ating probinsya,” he added.
After the formal program, Regional Scout Director Imelda S. Samson signalled the opening of the Kab Sayawan and Olympics participated in by kid and kab scouts (elementary pupils) from 10 schools districts: Lingayen I, Lingayen II, Binmaley, Labrador, Bugallon I, Bugallon II, Urbiztondo, Mangatarem I, Mangatarem II and Basista.
Joining the Governor at the presidential table were: Provincial Executive Assistant IV Ramon Morden, Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent of Pangasinan I Sheila Marie Primicias; BSP Reg’l Scout Director Samson; BSP Pangasinan – San Carlos City Council Scout Executive Vivencio Vinluan; BSP Dagupan City Council Assistant Scout Executive Alfredo Gamer; BSP Dagupan City Council Training Staff Mary Virginia Balmores and Woodbadge Holder Rosalinda Martinez.
This year’s scouting month celebrated along with the 76th year anniversary of the BSP was anchored on the theme “Be Prepared: Leadership for Life.” The scouting month has been celebrated yearly during the month of October as declared by the Presidential Proclamation No. 1326.
