THE city government of Dagupan has inked an agreement with the Philippine National Red Cross-Pangasinan Chapter (PNRC-PC) in support of the humanitarian agency’s school-based disaster risk reduction (DRR) project.

Scheduled to start this month until September 2013, the DRR in Schools initiative will involve five schools from different barangays of the city.

The participating schools are: Pogo-Lasip Elementary School in Brgy. Pogo Grande; Lasip Grande ES in Brgy. Lasip Grande; Lucao ES in Brgy. Lucao; Lomboy ES in Brgy. Lomboy; and Gen. Gregorio del Pilar ES in Bonuan Gueset.

Throughout the project, activities empowering both students and faculty with proper attitude towards disaster preparedness will be held to reinforce existing local DRR management structures in the community.

Aside from Dagupan, the town of Mangaldan will also have five of its barangays as beneficiaries of the project.

This initiative is co-funded by the German Red Cross. (CIO)
