Youth urged to register for 2013 elections
A BIG chunk of the registered Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members in Region 1 have yet to register as regular voters for the May 2013 election.
Noli R. Pipo, Region 1 election director, said only 13 percent of the total number of registered SK voters as of the Oct. 2010 elections have so far registered as regular voters.
The Commission of Elections (Comelec) has called on the youth who will turn 18 on or before the election day next year, May 13, to register as regular voters.
The deadline for registration is on October 31 but registration will be temporarily suspended on October 1-5 to give way to the filing of candidacy of those running for public office.
Comelec offices, open from Monday to Saturday at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., are accepting registration SK members, persons with disabilities and regular voters.
