Training for “citizen-friendly” policemen held

LINGAYEN–“A policeman in authority should build the image of respectability and confidence in dealing with people in the community.”

This was stressed by Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan when he spoke in behalf of Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. during the culminating program of the three-day training on Citizen’s Friendly Policeman in Region 1 last August 28 at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Conference Hall.

Baraan, who hailed the active community relations of the governor, stressed to the participants the importance of building confidence through communication with the people in the community.

Police Chief Inspector Mona Liza L. Asis reported that the activity participated in by about 100 policemen from various police stations in the six districts of Pangasinan, Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) and Provincial Police Office (PPO) focused on honing the aptitude of policemen in the province who are treating investigative and human rights-related cases.

Police Senior Superintendent Mariano Luis Verzosa Jr., PPO Officer-in-Charge, welcomed and thanked the participants during the culminating program.

SPO4 Romeo Cayabyab who gave a good impression of the seminar, expressed thanks that the activity was conducted even as he urged his fellow policemen saying, “Dapat nating isaisip at isagawa ang mga natutunan natin sa seminar sa ating mga istasyon”.

Ely Lumbang, Managing Director of Community Management Institute of the Philippines (CMIP) in La Union served as lecturer-facilitator during the seminar.

Lectures and workshops on Community Organizing and Effective Communication were offered in the first and second days of the seminar while on the last day case presentations and investigative role plays were done.

A certificate of appreciation was awarded to Espino along with the awarding of completion certificates and special awards to the participants. (PIO/ Gerry N. Oblanca)
