Pangasinan is finalist for 2012 Most Business-Friendly LGU
LINGAYEN–Pangasinan has been chosen a finalist in the Search for the 2012 Most Business-Friendly LGU Awards for Province, Level-1 Category.
This developed following the invitation of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President Miguel Varela to Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. to attend the final judging held at the PCCI Boardroom in Fort Bonifacio last September 27.
The search is conducted by PCCI in line with the 38th Philippine Business Conference in October.
During the final judging, each finalist is given a chance to present the LGU Initiatives in the six award criteria, namely; Trade, Investments, & Tourism Promotions, Public-Private Sector Partnership, Quality Management Systems and Innovation, Human Resource Development, MSME Development and Inter-Local Government Relations.
The province merited its nomination through the impressive documentation based on the award criteria submitted as entry to the PCCI.
Varela, also chairman of the Philippine Business Conference, said the project is an initiative of the PCCI which attempts to complement the efforts of the government to streamline business procedures in compliance with Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act.
Further, Varela said the award seeks to recognize and promote models of governance of municipalities, cities, and provinces that have demonstrated outstanding efforts in instituting good governance reforms to promote trade and investment in their localities; ensure accountability, transparency and efficiency in the conduct of day-to-day operations; and further competitiveness that will improve the quality of life of their constituents.
The LGU Award adopts the slogan “What’s Good for the Citizenry is Good for Business” which represents a framework for achieving continuous improvement of LGU services to their areas, benefitting both the community and citizenry. (PIO/Angeline D. Villanueva)
