Pangasinan eyes cyberspace technology
LINGAYEN–“We cannot afford not to be updated otherwise the world will leave us.”
This was disclosed by Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan during the map-up orientation seminar conducted by Google volunteers held September 12 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC) here.
Baraan said that Pangasinan should take the challenge in leading other provinces in the country to go full blast on cyberspace technology having recently cited as the 4th Best Performing Province in the country.
“At this age, if we are not online then we don’t exist,” the provincial administrator noted as he added that Pangasinenses must put their acts together in becoming computer literate and cyberspace-knowledgeable.
The map-up sessions will help promote the various localities in the province and their different points of interest such as tourism, business, academe, health provision, government offices and services among others.
Google Map has been proven effective an indispensable tool in the quick response of rescue teams and volunteers during the recent catastrophe that has hit Metro Manila and Northern Luzon brought about by the monsoon rains.
Facilitators include Wayne Manuel and Allan Paolo Medrano, Google mapmakers.
It will be recalled that the town of Lingayen has already been partially mapped last June.
Sessions for all LGUs in the province will start on September 18 and end on October 17.
Schedule of province-wide sessions are as follows: Anda and Bolinao (Sept. 17), Agno and Burgos (Sept. 18), Dasol and Infanta (Sept. 19), Sual and Mabini (Sept. 20), Bani and Alaminos City (Sept. 21), Labrador and Bugallon (Sept. 24), Lingayen and Binmaley (Sept. 25), Aguilar and Mangatarem (Sept. 26), Urbiztondo and Basista (Sept. 27), Calasiao and SanCarlos City (Sept. 28).
In October the following LGUs are scheduled: Sta. Barbara and Mapandan (Oct. 1), Malasiqui and Bayambang (Oct. 2), Mangaldan and San Fabian (Oct. 3), San Jacinto and Manaoag (Oct. 4), Sison and Pozorrubio (Oct. 5), Laoac and Binalonan (Oct. 8), Villasis and Urdaneta City (Oct. 9), Bautista and Alcala (Oct. 10), Sto. Tomas and Rosales (Oct. 11), Sta. Maria and Tayug (Oct. 12), Asingan and San Manuel (Oct. 15), San Nicolas and Natividad (Oct. 16), San Quintin and Umingan (Oct. 17) and Balungao (Oct. 18).
