Lim will proceed with MC Adore sale
DESPITE SUIT
NOTWITHSTANDING the special civil suit filed by Sangguniang Panlungsod Secretary Ryan Ravanzo against Mayor Benjamin Lim and nine members of the council, the mayor is set to pursue the sale of the MC Adore property.
In a press statement, Lim said there is “nothing irregular or anomalous in the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) resolution authorizing him to initiate the sale of the Mac (sic) Adore lot and building together with the other city-owned land located in Barangay Talibaew, Calasiao.”
The controversial special session in which the questioned ordinance was approved was called by Lim.
“This being the case, my office will move on to sell the properties upon the creation of a disposal committee,” Lim told newsmen during a press briefing at the City Hall Thursday.
(Editor’s note: The PUNCH obtained a copy of the report of the Appraisal Committee outlining how the MC Adore should be sold last Tuesday 2 days before his briefing. We tried to secure an official copy from the City Information Office last Friday but was told that only the office of the city administrator has access to it. See headline story.)
Lim also said “the enactment of the measure is purely a legislative work.”
DISCREDITING RAVANZO
The mayor also took a jibe on Ravanzo saying, “Mr. Ravanzo must understand well what he is saying in his affidavit because at the end of the day, baka siya lumabas na katawa-tawa dito.”
Lim has also gone on to attack the credibility of Ravanzo citing the validity of his appointment, which, he said, “wasn’t approved by the selection board”.
“So, even his appointment as secretary is questionable, which has given rise to reports that the SP will file a resolution expressing the body’s loss of confidence in the secretary, an act that could trigger a crisis in the city legislature,” he said.
The mayor urged Ravanzo and SP members “to sit down and settle their differences, because at the end of the day, kanila yun eh.”
When asked by The PUNCH to comment on the mayor’s statements about him, Ravanzo begged off and simply said he will stand by his complaint.
Lim also stressed that the sale “will be transparent… lalabas yan sa dyaryo and everybody will be given a chance to present their bid, the higher the better for the city.”—with report from CIO
