Lim sees tourism boom in city
“THE business people should be preparing for the mass arrival of foreign tourists.”
Mayor Benjamin S. Lim made this statement after he spoke before businessmen, local executives, investors and non-government organization representatives during the 21st North Luzon Area Business Conference (NLABC) held at the CSI Stadia on September 9.
Responding to the presentation of Clark International Airport Corporation president and CEO Victor Jose Luciano, who delivered a keynote speech on the development of Clark Airport as an international gateway to north Luzon, Lim expressed confidence on the inevitable influx of tourists to Dagupan.
He cited the soon-to- be completed Tarlac, Pangasinan and La Union (TPLEX) Expressway as one of the factors that will make Dagupan a new favored destination.
“TPLEX will be helpful because tourists do not usually want to travel more than two hours. With the budget flights being promoted at Clark International Airport and the construction of TPLEX will soon be completed, we should expect more people to come,” Lim said.
“As a province, we must prepare more attractions within our area. Here in Dagupan we have the river cruise, our tastiest bangus and our special lechon… Other than that, we also have to construct more hotel rooms and develop Pangasinan and Dagupan as a convention destination,” Lim added.
The event was organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and hosted by the Metro Dagupan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. (CIO)
