THE 21st North Luzon Business Area Conference, organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), set on September 6-7 in Dagupan aims to attract investors to the northern Luzon area.

Vicky Gaetos, area vice president for PCCI north Luzon, said one of the things that will be highlighted during the conference is the importance of developing a harmonious relationship between the government and private sector in order to attract investors.

Gaetos acknowledged that the north Luzon area is not getting as much attention from investors compared to southern Luzon and Mindanao.

“Other provinces that were not given attention before because of their storm-prone locations are now stormed with investments,” she said in press conference on Monday.

The conference is targeted towards investors who may want to expand operations, professionals who wish to go into business, and businessmen who are considering venturing into other industries.

The first day of the conference will be a chamber management orientation for prospective members and officers of PCCI who will undergo trainings.

Vice President Jejomar Binay is expected to address the conference on the second day.

The plenary sessions on September 7 will deal with the ASEAN Integration, which is important for businessmen who are into imports and exports.

The second agenda will deal on competitiveness in terms of pricing, product quality and craftsmanship.

Other issues to be tackled are climate change, energy, export development and human resources.

Best Practices of the local government units of Balanga City in Bataan and San Fernando City in Pampanga will also be presented.

Lelia Sy, president of the Metro-Dagupan CCI that will host the event, said a trade exhibit will run from September 1 to 7 at the CSI Mall where at least 60 small medium and business entrepreneurs will showcase their products. (PIA-Pangasinan/VMS)
