2 Pangasinan policemen win COPS 2012 Search
LINGAYEN—Two Pangasinenses bring pride to the province for being among the winners in the 2012 Search for the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service or COPS, joining the elite roster of outstanding police officers of the country.
The two are Police Superintendent Belli Bagaas Tamayo who won as outstanding policeman under the Police Commissioned Officer Category, while Police Officer 3 Eduardo De Guzman Santiago won under the Police Non-Commissioned Officers Category.
Tamayo is from Calasiao currently assigned at the provincial police station.
Santiago is a native and resident of Bayambang currently assigned as Police Community Relations and Warrant Police Non-commissioned Officer of Bayambang Municipal Police Station.
Aniceto M. Sobrepena, president of Metrobank Foundation, Inc. which grants the annual award, congratulated Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. and the people of Pangasinan for producing outstanding public servants from the Philippine National Police.
The winners will receive their awards on September 5during the awarding ceremonies for Outstanding Filipinos.
Each will receive a trophy and cash prize of P300,000.
Sobrepena said the project aims to encourage other policemen to become role models of the PNP.
COPS is an annual search which pays tribute to outstanding men and women of the PNP who exemplified excellence in solving and preventing crimes in their community, and integrity as members of the PNP. (PIO/Angeline D. Villanueva)
