ROSALES—A suspect being served with a warrant of arrest at his house in Barangay San Pedro East here last July 31 locked himself in his room and committed suicide.

The suspect, Jimmy Tan, charged of rape, managed to elude arrests in the past but this time an informant immediately tipped off the police of his whereabouts when he came home.

When the police, together with Barangay Chairman Tito Osalla, went to his house at 11:30 a.m., the accused and his wife Norma, 65, immediately locked themselves in their room, prompting the police to launch negotiation.

While the negotiation was ongoing, a lone gunshot rung out from the room and after a while, Norma came out informing the police that her husband was already dead after committing suicide.

A Bently Armscor pistol with three bullets was found near the body of the victim.
