LINGAYEN—Pangasinan will again host another sporting event, this time the regional qualifying elimination for Batang Pinoy 2012 set on October 10-13.

The event will be participated in by athletes aged 15 and below from Regions I, II, III and the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).

Provincial Administrator Rafael M. Baraan said the province is working on further enhancing its hosting capacity as part of the goal to be the sports center of the northern Luzon area.

Batang Pinoy is organized by the Philippine Sports Commission in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Education, Philippine Olympic Committee and local government units to encourage sports awareness and participation among the Filipino youth, including those who are out of school.

“This is a very good program for young athletes that even the out-of school youth can join being LGU-based,” Baraan said.

Elimination rounds are set on September 1 and 2 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) to choose the best athletes that will come from various towns.

Dasol Mayor Noel Nacar expressed full support to the program saying they will field their best tennis players.
