Lim rallies PTA to help in efforts vs. flooding
DAGUPAN Mayor Benjamin S. Lim called on parents, teacher and students to help in efforts to adapt to the now regular flooding in the city which he attributed to climate change.
“We cannot afford to see politics hamper our efforts in saving Dagupan from sinking due to the pestering floods caused by climate change and other factors,” Lim said during the induction program of the East Central Integrated School Parents-Teachers Association based in barangay Mayombo.
Citing the critical role of parents, teachers and students in the government’s campaign against environmental degradation, Lim suggested that roads and pathways leading to schools, especially in low-lying areas, be elevated.
“Since flooding has become one of the main problems today in our city, kailangan ng pagtatabon sa ating mga kalsada, which will make it easier for our children to go to schools,” he said.
“We must set aside politics if we want to reverse the effects of climate change by proposing projects that could sustain renewable energy, which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain and tides, ” he added.–(CIO)
