Comelec resumes voters registration, validation
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Pangasinan resumed on August 1 the registration of new voters and the validation of listed ones for the 2013 elections.
Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Jenifer Balarbar explained that the registration was temporarily suspended last July to give way to the election in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), which was conducted July 9-18.
“Our election officers and machines were used in the ARMM election last July but now the registration has resumed and will continue until October 31,” Balarbar told the Philippine Information Agency on Wednesday.
However, the registration will again be suspended from October 1 to 5 to give way to the filing of certificates of candidacy for the May 2013 mid-term election.
Registrants are advised to bring valid IDs with photograph, address and signature of the person to register as voter in Comelec offices in towns and cities.
Cedulas and barangay clearance will not be honored. A birth certificate is required for those who will turn 18 years old on or before May 13, 2013.
As of April 16, 2012, Pangasinan has 1,484,690 registered voters.(PIA-Pangasinan/VHS)
