450 kilos of hot meat seized in Dagupan

SOME 450 kilos of “hot meat” were seized by the City Veterinarian Office in Dagupan City on August 18 from five stall owners at the Malimgas Public Market.

Dr. Michael Maramba, city veterinarian, led the confiscation after the meat vendors failed to comply with the law on frozen meat.

Maramba said the goods looked pale and did not meet standards.

Prior to the confiscation, several notices were sent as a warning to the sale of the meat.

The seized items were burned in front of the city hall after Mayor Benjamin Lim declined the vendors’ plea to give back their goods.

Lim also reprimanded the vendors for failing to comply with the law.—Eva Visperas
