AGNO—Two black barges believed to be from Indonesia ran aground at the shoreline of Barangay Aloleng here on July 31 due to strong waves brought by Typhoon Gener.

A report from the Philippine Coast Guard, which conducted an ocular inspection of the area with the police, said the two barges, with markings Soekawati 2709 and Soekawati 2708 at the bow part, are unpropelled with neither personnel nor cargo on board.

Rodolfo Abalos, 44, barangay kagawad in the area, said a tugboat stayed in the area for an hour and attempted to recover the two barges but yielded negative results.

He said the tugboat departed towards a northern direction and left the two barges drifting at the shoreline.

No one has so far claimed ownership of the barges.—Eva Visperas
