THE intensified campaign against suspected motorcycle riding-in-tandem hitmen (MRTH) by the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) has netted two suspects in San Jacinto on August 12.

Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, regional director of PRO1, identified those who were arrested as Albert F. Chan, 21, married, resident of Nibaliw East, San Fabian, and Randy A. Acosta, 24, single, from Bagong Pag-asa, San Jacinto.

Bucayu said the suspects were apprehended along the bridge of San Vicente in San Jacinto after a quick police response.

Police Senior Inspector Amor Mio Somine, chief of police of San Jacinto, happened to pass by the vicinity of the crime scene where the suspects gunned down the victim and immediately ordered his personnel to conduct dragnet operations against the perpetrators.

The victim, identified as Rodel B. Pascua, 49, a resident of Barangay Alacan, San Fabian, was rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Scene of the Crime Operative (SOCO) recovered fifteen empty shells and one deformed slug of caliber .45 pistol at the scene.

Chan and Acosta are now under the custody of the San Fabian Police Station while a case of murder is being prepared against them.

Somine and his team received special recognition for their quick response and apprehension of the suspects.—with report from Eva Visperas
