LINGAYEN–Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. welcomed Police Senior Supt. Mariano Luis “Sonny” Verzosa, Jr. who assumed as the new officer-in-charge provincial director of the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) here last July 17.

The governor told the police force that he has no objection on the appointment of Col. Verzosa as officer-in-charge. He said that Verzosa has worked under him during his stint with the police force before he entered politics.

Gov. Espino recalled that when he assumed command of the Pangasinan Police Station from 1992 to 1995, Verzosa was part of all the activities of their command in support to the provincial government in the staging of the Palarong Pambansa, Pistay Dayat and the 50thAnniversary Landing in 1995.

Further, the governor said, “we made this camp the greenest and also the cleanest camp entire the country for three (3) successive years from 1992 to 1994. We also made this command the best provincial command twice in three years so we remained on top for three years.”

Verzosa took over the post from Supt. Michael Nicolas who served as officer-in-charge following the retirement from the service of Sr. Supt. Rosueto Ricaforte.

As this developed, Espino urged the officers and men to start a new tomorrow and join hands in pursuing his vision to make Pangasinan, the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family.

“I am inviting you, and I want you all to stay here in Pangasinan and do the things that we are doing right now for the province,” the governor said.

Moreover, he thanked the police force for all the support they have extended to his leadership.

Espino cited the officers and men, especially the chiefs of police, commanders and all members of the provincial office, for helping the provincial government in its effort of cleaning up the Pangasinan rivers to address environmental concerns.

Sana yung nasimulan ay matapos natin at sana unang gawin natin ay linisin ang ating mga tahanan at mga opisina at isipin natin kung paano tayo makapagtrabaho,” he said.

The provincial chief executive also urged everyone in the police force to do his job to protect the environment, be vigilant in going against drug users and drug pushers, cattle rustlers, kidnappers, carjackers and all crime-doers. (PIO/Angeline D. Villanueva)
