Two police chiefs sacked under one-strike policy

A RAID conducted by lawmen at 1:30 p.m. on June 10 on a suspected illegal gambling activity in the tri-boundaries of Sto. Tomas and Alcala in Pangasinan and San Narciso, Tarlac led to the relief oft he chiefs of police of Sto. Tomas and Alcala.

Their relief was based on the one-strike policy ordered by Philippine National Police Chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome, relieving the head of the police force of the town found to have illegal gambling activities as soon as evidence is found.

The raiders were from the Sto. Tomas Police Station and from the Police Liaison Office of the Department of Interior and Local Government based at Camp Crame.

Arrested in that raid were Larry Martinez, 36, farmer, and Carlito De Vera, 48, both of Barangay San Antonio, Sto. Tomas.

Both were found in possession of suspected Jai-alai paraphernalia such as ball pen, papelitos and bet money amounting to P600.
