MOA for “Proudly Dagupan’s Best” inked
THE Dagupan City government here has secured the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for its soon-to-be-launched livelihood program billed as “Proudly Dagupan’s Best Certified Products”.
Mayor Benjamin S. Lim signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with DTI Region 1 Director Peter Mangabat during the launching of the program last June 6.
Before the signing, Lim said in his message to the media and stakeholders that the project was initiated to support local producers’ efforts at improving their products and be in the ranks of world-class exports.
“The bottomline is that we generate jobs and livelihood for our fellow Dagupeños to uplift their living and enable them to support the education of their children as we believe that education is the key to success,” the mayor said.
Mangabat, for his part, said the DTI will help the city earn Intellectual Property Office certification for the “Proudly Dagupan’s Best “ products.
As provided in the MOA, DTI will provide assistance in sustaining quality, developing packaging, marketing and promotion of the products as well as in the evaluation and accreditation of their firms.
Meanwhile, Lim also reported that fish traders from other parts of the country had been in talks with fisherfolk in Barangay Pugaro for supply and export and that there is a growing number of investors expressing interest in the city’s hog raising system. (CIO)
