It’s a holiday in Dagupan on June 20
IT will be a non-working holiday in Dagupan on June 20 as the city celebrates its 65th Charter Day Anniversary.
Proclamation No. 402, signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa by authority of President Benigno Aquino III, declared Wednesday as a special day in Dagupan, the only chartered city in Pangasinan.
Several activities have been lined up for the celebration, including a jobs fair, vocabulary contest, campaign against illegal drugs, exhibit of Dagupan’s best local products and services, wreath laying ceremony for the shrine of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, whose birthday is on June 19, as well as the shrine of the late House Speaker Eugenio Perez, who authored the creation of Dagupan into a city.
There will also be awarding ceremony for the ten outstanding Dagupeños and the city’s biggest taxpayers.
Third year high school students from the city will serve as local officials for a week under the yearly Manlingkor Ya Kalangweran program. (PIA-Pangasinan-VHS)
