DepEd donates P2M sports equipment for Pangasinan Sports Academy

LINGAYEN—The province of Pangasinan, through Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., received P2-million worth of sports equipment from the Department of Education in support of the province’s plan to put up a sports academy here during a ceremonial turn-over at the Office of Secretary Armin Luistro in Pasig City last May 29.

Luistro led the turnover of the various sports equipment that were used during the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa 2012 held in Pangasinan May 6 to 12.

Following the turn-over of the equipment, Luistro expressed admiration for Espino’s firm resolve to pursue his plan to produce future champions and world class athletes through the sports academy, which will serve as a training ground for young and aspiring athletes.`

Luistro said, “Ito yung programa na gusto talaga naming isulong at sana sa pangunguna ng Pangasinan ay maging modelo sa iba pang mga probinsiya na magiging host ng mga susunod na Palaro.”

Luistro added that DepEd” is happy that Pangasinan is pursuing a continuous sports development program so that the sports equipment will be put to good.”

Education Assistant Secretary Tonisito Umali also congratulated. Espino for bringing the Palaro to a higher level.

Itinaas ninyo ang standard ng sports development,” Umali said.

Espino, for his part, thanked the DepEd for giving the province the opportunity to host the Palarong Pambansa.

The provincial chief executive received the sports equipment with Vice-Gov. Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr., Board Members Von Mark R. Mendoza, Angel G. Baniqued, Raul P. Sison, Generoso D. Tulagan, Jr., Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario, and provincial executives who played major roles in the Palarong Pambansa. (PIO/Angeline D. Villanueva)
