INFORMAL settlers living along the riverbanks have been awarded houses and lots in a resettlement site in Sitio Korea in Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan.

Mayor Benjamin S. Lim presented to 105 families in a turnover ceremony last May 29 copies of the memorandum of agreement proclaiming each one of them as the rightful owner of a house and lot.

The construction of the houses was a partnership between the city government and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) under its program of building shelters for those under threat of hazards arising from climate change.

Lim asked the beneficiaries to be self-supporting by policing their own ranks to maintain peace and order in their community, maintain hygiene and cleanliness of the area, and plant trees within the premises to enhance the environment.

The city and the PRC previously turned-over some 250 raw houses in Bonuan Gueset and Bonuan Binloc on March 19 and 24 this year. (CIO)
