SM culinary roadshow held in Rosales
THE second “MY City, My SM, My Cuisine” culinary roadshow was recently launched in SM City Rosales with Pangasinan flavors taking center stage.
The launching started with a parade of the Talong Festival Dancers of Villasis and the Corn Festival Dancers of Sto. Tomas.
Many of the city and municipal festivals around the province are centered on food products, the most popular of which is the Bangus Festival of Dagupan City. Others are the Patupat Festival of Pozorrubio, Puto Festival of Calasiao, Mango and Bamboo Festival of San Carlos City, Sugpo and Malaga Festival of Binmaley, Longganisa Festival of Alaminos City, Pandan Festival of Mapandan, and the Tupig Festival of Laoac.
MY City, My SM, My Cuisine – a joint project of SM and the Philippine Star with support from Homeworld and the local government units – celebrates the flavors of regional cuisines through a culinary contest featuring two signature recipes from ten cities where SM malls are located.
The recent launch, held in time for the Bangus Festival, showcased in the cookfest Bangus for the entrée and the tupig rice cake for dessert, two of Pangsinan’s signature dishes.
Melchor Corpuz’s Ginataang Boneless Bangus na Binalot sa Dahon ng Saging entrée and Marissa Marsan’s tupig were adjudged winners.
Pangasinan First Lady Madame Priscilla Espino, Vice Governor Ferdinand Calimlim, and SM Vice President for Marketing Millie Dizon awarded the prizes.
Mrs. Espino herself demonstrated her signature Pinaputok na Tilapia recipe, Dagupan Councilor Brian Lim shared his Bangus Rissoto recipe, while Gerry Austria, the man behind Pangasinan’s famous Matutina Seafood Haus and Restaurant shared his specialties, pinakbet and buttered Crab. The cooking demo was held at the Rosales Presidencia through Mayor Ricardo Revita.
The event had a Hundred Islands theme, inspired by the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos City.
