Scholars join “Doypuay Kalangweran” camp

LINGAYEN—Provincial scholars from the different campuses of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) took part in the annual youth camp “Doypuay Kalangweran”, Pangasinan for “gathering of the youth”, that coincided with the Pista’s Dayat celebration.

Some 382 students under the provincial government’s scholarship fund, camped at the beachfront here from April 30 to May 1 and participated in activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness, appreciation of local culture, and family values.

Their activities included tree planting at the foot of the Bañaga Bridge in Bugallon, lectures on ecological preservation, history of Pangasinan, and way of life and character formation.

The participants also played traditional Filipino games such as kite flying, palo sebo, and sack race.

On May 1, the participants watched the parade of colorful boats during the fluvial float competition “Banca Parada” that which showcased the improvement of the rivers in Pangasinan.

“It was an unforgettable occasion and we learned a lot of things that will develop us being the future of Pangasinan,” said Maria Cristina Libao from PSU Infanta campus. (PIA-Pangasinan/ AMM)
