Police bats for tagging of motorcycle riders’ helmets, jackets
THE Pangasinan Police Office wants motorcycle riders to have the plate number of their vehicle printed at the back of their helmets and jackets to help check the rising number of crimes perpetuated by men riding-in-tandem, usually using unmarked motorbikes.
Pangasinan Police Community Relations Officer Benjamin Ocomen said such tagging would help the police identify the riders, especially those riding-in-tandem.
“I hope that there would be such an ordinance,” he said during the KBP Forum at the Philippine Information Agency office on Thursday.
Ocomen admitted that majority of crimes, particularly homicide and robbery, recorded in the province in the past months were perpetrated by suspects riding-in-tandem.
Last month, Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr. of the Sixth District proposed an ordinance to regulate riding-in-tandem.
Ocomen expressed hope that the tagging will be integrated into the ordinance. (PIA-Pangasinan/ RRF)
