New police precinct in city school belt
FOURTH District Gina Rep. de Venecia and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez led the blessing and inauguration Friday afternoon of the newly-built Community Precinct 8 of the Dagupan Police in Barangay Tapuac to protect residents and students in the school belt of Tapuac.
De Venecia thanked Atty. Gonzalo Duque, president of the Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU), for reminding her on the need to put up a police station in the school belt to strengthen the security of students.
The schools in the area include LNU, Ednas School, Mother Goose Playskool, Dominican School, La Sallette and the Dagupan City National High School.
Also present during the inauguration were Superintendent Michael Nicholas, officer-in-charge of the Pangasinan police; and Superintendent Romeo Caramat, chief of police of Dagupan City.
In her speech, De Venecia also announced that the Dagupan City Police Station and other police stations in her district will soon receive two motorcycles each to increase mobility, especially in the pursuit of armed men riding in tandem.
De Venecia also gave an update on six projects designed to minimize flooding in the city during the rainy season.
These include the already completed drainage project in Bonuan Gueset, costing P45 million; construction and rehabilitation of drainage on Arellano Street, including the road shoulder from Tanap to Dawel bridges, P18.5 million; raising of grade and construction of drainage in Mayombo from junction of Perez Boulevard to Villaflor Hospital, P47 million; raising of grade and rehabilitation of drainage from Trauma Hospital to Amado Street, P16.5 million; raising of grade and construction of drainage in Lucao Section from De Venecia Highway junction to De Venecia Expressway Extension junction, P20 million; and raising of grade of De Venecia Expressway, P45 million.
