Man shot dead inside his van
ROSALES—A 66-year old male retired nurse was shot dead inside a van he was driving after making a temporary stop-over at 5:30 p.m. along the national road at the Nueva Ecija-Pangasinan boundary in Barangay Salvacion here.
The victim was identified as Alfredo Casco, 66, of Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija who was shot by still unidentified suspects.
He and his wife Corazon, 64, were on their way to Manaoag on board their Toyota Grandia van when the incident happened.
Mrs. Casco said she was not able to see the suspects or the shooting as she left the van to go to the restroom.
When she returned to the van, she found her husband slumped on the driver’s seat with blood oozing from his body.
The victim was rushed by members of the 1st Police Public Safety Mobile Company based in Barangay Sabit, Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija to Guimba District Hospital using their vehicle for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) by the attending physician.
Three spent cartridges and one slug of still undetermined firearm were found at the crime scene and are now the subject of ballistics examination.
