Kagawad shoots murder suspect
BUGALLON—A barangay kagawad is now under police custody after a murder suspect was shot and wounded when the two grappled with the latter’s gun.
The incident happened in the early morning of May 1 when Joey Frias Sr., a councilman of Barangay Salomague Sur here, went to the house of Ricky Soldao to ask him to surrender to the police given the warrant of arrest against him for murder issued by a court.
A heated altercation ensued between the two, after which Soldao drew a hand gun from his waist and pointed it to Frias.
Frias tried to wrestle the gun from Soldao, during which the firearm went off.
Soldao was rushed to the Mariano Verzosa Community Hospital in Lingayen where he was treated for his wound and where the warrant for his arrest was finally served.
