DSWD hires youth for internship program

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has hired 1,664 young persons from Pangasinan as government interns for 52 days, to be assigned in barangays, field offices, centers and institutions of the DSWD and registered non-government organizations.

The new hires, who will receive a stipend of P246.00 a day, are out- of- school youths, undergraduate and unemployed graduates aged 18-30 years old.

They will perform various tasks in the core social protection programs of DSWD such as Pantawid Pamilya, social pension program, supplementary feeding, cash for work for small scale farmers and fishermen and internally displaced persons and day care services, in partnership with local government units.

DSWD Information Officer Iryn Delos Reyes said the GIP provides opportunities for the young people to earn and augment the family income as they develop their skills in preparation for future employment.

There are 6,096 youth hired and deployed in 3,265 barangays in the region. (PIA-Pangasinan with a report from DSWD)
